What is a Cleaner-Member?

A Cleaner-Member is an independent professional cleaner who joins $20 Clean as a vetted member—not a disposable gig worker. Cleaner-Members receive consistent jobs, fair pay, platform support, and protection, while remaining fully independent.

Am I an employee of $20 Clean?

No. Cleaner-Members are independent contractors operating their own cleaning businesses. $20 Clean provides bookings, systems, and support—you control your schedule and job options.

Why does $20 Clean use a membership model?

Because quality cleaners deserve stability and respect. Membership allows us to:
• Keep our platform demand up for consistent work
• Implement, improve & operate our technology
• Protect cleaners during disputes
• Provide cleaners access to industry trainings, resources and equipment so you can earn more

How do I receive jobs?

Jobs are booked through our platform and assigned based on availability, location, membership tier, and reliability. There is no bidding or undercutting.

Can I decline jobs?

Yes. You control your availability. Reliability matters, but you are never forced to accept work.

How are disputes handled?

We have a dedicated Cleaner Support Team. If a client raises a concern, we review evidence, scope, and checklist compliance before making a decision. We do not automatically side with the client. It is important that you take your before and after photos when appropriate so that in the case of a dispute you have your defence ready.

What happens if a client is unreasonable?

Cleaners are able to rate and review their clients in the same fashion that clients can Cleaners. Client behavior is tracked. Repeat or serious offences result in removal from the platform and an inability to book a cleaner with us again.

How do payments work?

Payments are processed through the platform with payouts every Saturday for jobs worked Friday to Thursday. We do not accept cash for payment of service. You are able to accept cash tips.

Do I need to bring my own supplies?

This depends on your membership tier and the job type. Some tiers require cleaners to have supplies, while others do not require you to have any and thus avail yourself to “no supply” jobs only.

Why should I join $20 Clean instead of other platforms?

Why would my payment ever be on hold?

Payments are rarely placed on hold, but when they are, it’s usually for one of these reasons:
• Your payout method needs verification or updating
• Required job documentation (photos or checklist) wasn’t submitted
• A client has disputed payment over a concern that needs review
• A co-cleaner reported an issue that needs clarification
• Your account was flagged for review to prevent fraud
• Background or account information needs updating

Payment holds are temporary, not punishments. Our Cleaner Support Team reviews the situation and works with you directly to resolve it and release payment as quickly as possible.

What if the client asks for extra work?

Extra work must be approved through the platform. Cleaners are never expected to work for free or go beyond the agreed scope. Booked on a standard clean but the client actually needs a deep? Just let us know in the app or by texting our cleaner support line. We will contact your client right away to upgrade their service so you aren’t underpaid and overworked. An upgraded service means a higher hourly rate for you, so never do more than you are booked for unless upgraded.

What if a client is rude, unsafe, or unreasonable?

Your safety and dignity matter. Report the issue immediately. We will never force you to work in an environment you are not comfortable. Wish to end your clean early due to concern? Just let us know. We will handle the rest.
